File Name: Taxi (Williams 1988)

File Submitter: 32assassin

File Submitted: 10 Dec 2016

File Category: VPX/VPinMAME Recreations

Author(s): 32assassin, Drakko
Manufacturer: Williams
Year: 1988
Permission to MOD?: Unspecified

first of I have say Big thank you to Drakko for his Future Pinball version.
I used so much of his resources that I would almost call this a Future Pinball to VPX conversion. So much that I decided to give him co author credits.

Another big thank you to JpSalas and his VP9 version.

PLEASE READ
The Spin-out ramp code was copied from JPsalas vp9 version.  I sent an early build of the table to Jp and asked for help fine-tuning it for me.  The ramp will work
9 out of 10 times.  In that one occasion, the ball will get stuck,  a quick nudge in your part and the ball will be kicked out.  I tired to use other methods to build the ramp
but I did not get any improved results.  If the ramp is not up to your standards feel free to rebuild it.  Many fans of this table including myself will be more than grateful for a fully working.
100% accurate response.

final note
big thank you to sawbill for mapping the GI and flasher lights and his physics tweaks recommendations.

Unfortunately this is the fist table ever that crashes VPX when starting. Never ever had such thing.

Ah, forgot to set ddraw to 0 (for exclusive fs mode). Working now! ;)

Interestingly I do not see the ball spinning in the funnel. Weird. Would be great if TT could do a new primitive for that... :)

Thanks for this awesome vpx release, taxi is one of the greatest williams machines.

Seems though that with getting gorbi the kicker hits the left metal guide resulting in

8 out of 10 times in a drain straight through the middle....hmm always thought we had

a metal post in the middle. Or maybe it's just that i'm getting older and forgetting stuff

is common practice these days   ;)

Thanks to all involved !

This is one of my favorite VP9 tables!  Thanks for giving it the TLC it deserves.  Is there an adjustment I can make to allow me to see the ball in the spinout?

Only issue I'm seeing is the Spinout Kicker gets the ball stuck sometimes, but a nudge usually frees it. I actually lowered JoyrideEject force to 10 and am happy with that. I am seeing center drains from the ball exiting the Gorby lane too, but not enough to say anything more than "oh well, that's pinball" and try again. I can still make jackpots, so it's good enough for some good old Taxi fun. Thank you and Great job!

What I did was go into the material manager and clone the material for plastic with a light. It names it Plastic with a light1. Then change the the newly cloned  material to opacity to .5. Selected the primative24 and set the material to the plastic with a light1 and you can see the ball while it's in the spin out lane.

A DOF Flipper error after launching table and using the flippers for the first time is a sign of me missing....... (what?)......  Is it my Controller.vbs , VPinMame.dll out of date?????  Any advice appreciated.
